Hospital Details – 137-bed long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) that specializes in managing the complex medical care and rehabilitation of patients with multiple acute health care needs. A patient’s average length of stay is 25-30 days
Program Medical Director Essential Functions & Responsibilities: • Performance Management of employed Hospitalists • Serve in a partnership role with the management group Program Manager in all areas of program management including (but not limited to) marketing, staffing, HR issues, budget, clinical performance, strategic planning, services provided, and recruitment • Orientation and training of new physicians • Relationship management with key clinical and administrative stakeholders at the hospital • Define and manage work allocation and work flow policies and processes of program clinical and physician staff • Define and manage service agreements and scope of practice of direct admissions, perioperative and consultative care, ED consultations, ICU management • Champion for change management and implementation of required expectations within the program • Facilitate 2-way dialogue with staff hospitalists to promote physician involvement in program planning, policy development and other activities • Position is a blend of clinical and management responsibilities
Education, Training & Experience Required: • MD or DO degree • ABIM or AOBIM certification in Internal Medicine • License (or eligible) to practice in the state of Connecticut or willingness to obtain a Connecticut license • Experience in a LTAC Hospital is a plus • Experience in Hospital Medicine is a plus • Demonstrated previous leadership and management skills • Knowledge of physician services documentation and coding compliance requirements • Experience in quality improvement initiatives, preferably with leadership responsibilities
